A long history open to the future
The waters of Terme della Salvarola stem from a millennia-old tradition, with origins dating back to Roman times. They were used by Matilda of Canossa and were called divine by the Estensi. The spa experienced a period of great splendor between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, an atmosphere preserved through the beautiful Liberty facade that houses the inhalation, mud and balneotherapy departments. Inside, in 1978, an extension was built and an ancient courtyard was enclosed with a transparent dome, harmonizing the old and the new, designed by architect Tiziano Lugli.
Today, Terme della Salvarola is a full-service spa, renowned for its high level of professionalism. The Balnea thermal spa, dedicated to wellness and psychophysical reactivation, part of which was built in 1998, features modern and high-quality architecture that makes it feel like walking in a timeless environment, entirely devoted to well-being. It offers a captivating journey between the modern and the ancient, set within a large park.
After a period of closing between the two world wars, in 1958, Cavaliere Vincenzo Gibertini re-founded the Terme, inaugurating a new era of prosperity. Following his passing in 1968, his children Amedeo and Alfredo, along with Gabriella have continued his legacy, a tradition that still carries on today.
In 1987, the private polyclinic Terme della Salvarola was opened, which today offers more than thirty medical specialties and a modern physiotherapy and rehabilitation center.
As mentioned earlier, in 1998, the Balnea thermal wellness and psychophysical reactivation center was inaugurated, featuring thermal pools, vascular walkways, steam baths, saunas, cardiofitness and rehabilitation gyms, as well as a modern sensory thermal beauty center. In recent years, some areas have been renovated and a new outdoor pool has been built. By the end of 2024, an important energy efficiency project for the facilities was completed, along with the installation of a photovoltaic system on the roof of the Wellness Center.
For wellness and business stays just a few steps from the spa, Hotel Terme Salvarola is available. Built in 1968 and renovated multiple times, it is inspired by the traditions of the past, the innovations of the present, with a constant eye on the future.
The offer is completed by the Salvarola café, the summer bistro in the thermal park and for music lovers, during the summer, some evenings dedicated to young people with music and entertainment.
